The Armory

What are the forum's guidelines and rules?
You can find the general rules and guidelines by visiting the rules page, although they still haven't been finalized and are up to change at our discretion.

Who can I contact for help?
Feel free to contact anyone from the forum staff via PM or e-mail, or if they are for some reason unavailable, you can always get help from another member. Besides, the forum has plenty of room for threads with your questions, so feel free to ask whatever you need help with. You can contact us using the contact form or view the staff.

What is the resource system?
Everytime you post a reply or start a new topic you receive resources. Resource amount is determined by how long your post is and how constructive it is to the thread, quoting other posts does not add to the final resource gain. Resources are capped at a relatively low level, so you are not able to post 1 long reply and gain mass amounts.

What do we use the resources for?
You use the resources to purchase profile enhancements (signatures, polls, etc), collectibles and pets. Enhancements unlock certain profile features, Collectibles are items that are only available until the stock empties and Pets are basically pets (characters from the game) that are displayed underneath each of your posts.

Where do you buy items?
You buy items from the forum store.

The item I want is out of stock, help?
Items will updated their stock by +1 every 24 hours. Just be sure to buy it before someone else does!

Starcraft 2

What's new in the game?
So far, the following features are reported to be in the game:
- An advanced, scalable 3D graphics engine, with Blizzard's standard visual style (bright, bold colors coupled with relatively simplistic models with advanced visual effects and high quality textures)
- An advanced map editor for the creation of custom maps and mods for the game (the game will ship with the two custom tools Blizzard used in production; SCUMEdit and StarTools)
- A physics engine used mostly for visual purposes, with no impact on gameplay
- Blizzard's standard tiered level system for maps (as seen in WC3)
- The 3 standard races
- Full multiplayer capability over an upgraded version of Battlenet (details still unknown)

How far along is the game in development?
As previously stated, the game is in a pre-alpha phase, and all three races have a full complement of units. However, Blizzard has only disclosed a limited amount of information pertaining to each race, the rest is all rumor and extrapolation from screenshots, gameplay videos and various articles. You can find collected information of each of the races here: Terran, Protoss and Zerg.

Is there going to be an Alpha/Beta? And if so, when?
Blizzard currently plans to have a closed alpha with testers selected from various people including pro gamers. Plans for a beta are still under wraps.

What's the estimated release date for SC2?
Blizzard has yet to announce a release date for the game, saying that theyd rather finish the game and have time to polish it than force a release at a planned date. However, they have stated that the game isnt coming out in 2008, and most people (and retailers) speculate the release date to be somewhere around the second half of 2009.

What races are there in the game?
Blizzard has announced that the game will feature the 3 standard races (Terran, Zerg and Protoss for those of you new to the game) as playable races. As for the appearance of other races throughout the campaign, no official announcement has been made, but insinuations along the lines of the Xel'Naga are present, since Blizzard plans to continue the storyline from the original game.

What's the storyline for the single player campaign?
The storyline is currently undisclosed, since Blizzard is (presumably) still working on it.

Which of the characters from the original will be appearing game?
Blizzard has stated that each races staple character will be appearing; Raynor is still alive and kicking, Zeratul is still around and working from the shadows, and Kerrigan is still very much in control of the Zerg as the Queen of Blades. We've also seen a new character in the cinematic intro (being equipped in marine armor) named Tychus Findlay, a convict of some sort.

Login and Registration Issues

Why can't I log in?
Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to log in. Have you been banned from the board? (A message will be displayed if you have.) If so, you should contact the webmaster or board administrator to find out why. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem; if not, contact the board administrator -- they may have incorrect configuration settings for the board.

Why do I need to register at all?
You may not have to -- however, registration will give you access to additional features not available to guest users such as definable avatar images, private messaging, emailing to fellow users, usergroup subscription, etc. It only takes a few minutes to register so it is recommended you do so.

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you log in, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.

I've lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click the I've forgotten my password. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time.

I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore!
The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered) or the administrator has deleted your account for some reason. If it is the latter case then perhaps you did not post anything? It is usual for boards to periodically remove users who have not posted anything so as to reduce the size of the database. Try registering again and get involved in discussions.

User Profile and Settings

How do I change my profile?
Once you are logged in, click the "Edit Profile" link within the Control Panel pod.

How do I show an image (avatar) below my username?
This is generally unique or personal to each user. It is up to the board administrator to enable avatars and they have a choice over the way in which avatars can be made available. If you are unable to use avatars then this is the decision of the board admin and you should ask them their reasons. You can either upload an avatar, outlink an avatar or select one from the gallery; all which can be done by editing your profile.

How do I change my rank?
In general you cannot directly change the wording of any rank (ranks appear below your username in topics and on your profile depending on the style used). Most boards use ranks to indicate the number of posts you have made and to identify certain users. For example, moderators and administrators may have a special rank. Please do not abuse the board by posting unnecessarily just to increase your rank -- you will probably find the moderator or administrator will simply lower your post count.

I cannot edit my signature! Why?
You must first purchase the "Signature Enhancement" item from the store, then you will be able to edit your signature.

How do I change my pet?
If you have purchased a pet, simply edit your profile and go to the "Profile" tab. Once here, select the pet you want to show from the dropdown list.

Posting Issues

How do I post a topic in a forum?
Easy -- click the relevant button on either the forum or topic screens. You must be logged in first.

How do I edit or delete a post?
Unless you are the board admin or forum moderator you can only edit or delete your own posts. You can edit a post by clicking the edit button at the top right. The delete icon is located in the same area. You may not delete a topic/first post unless you are the administrator.

How do I create a poll?
Creating a poll is easy -- first off you must purchase the "Poll Enhancement" item. Once the item is owned, just click the "New Poll" button at the top right of the category or topic view pages.

Why can't I access a forum?
Some forums may be limited to certain users or groups. To view, read, post, etc. you may need special authorization which only the forum moderator and board administrator can grant, so you should contact them.

Why can't I vote in polls?
Only registered users can vote in polls so as to prevent spoofing of results. If you have registered and still cannot vote then you probably do not have appropriate access rights.

Why is my messages/title invalid?
Your message is usually invalid because it contains characters that are not allowed in the UTF-8 coding that has been done on this site. The form checking system only allows characters, letters and numbers that you can find on a basic keyboard. Usually you encounter this error when you copy and paste blocks of text from another site or a word document. The following characters below are not allowed on these forums, please replace them with their respective default characters. Once you have replaced the invalid characters, your post shall work. Here are some of the characters that are not allowed (Format: invalid character = valid character).

Valid: " " ' ' - ...

Formatting and Topic Types

What is Simple Code
Simple Code is a special implementation of HTML. Simple Code itself is similar in style to HTML: tags are enclosed in square braces [ and ] rather than < and > and it offers greater control over what and how something is displayed. For more information on Simple Code see the guide which can be accessed from the posting page.

Can I use HTML?
No you may not use HTML in topics, messages or anything else.

What are Announcements?
Announcements often contain important information and you should read them as soon as possible. Announcements appear at the top of every page in the forum to which they are posted. Whether or not you can post an announcement depends on the permissions required, which are set by the administrator.

What are Sticky topics?
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in viewforum and only on the first page. They are often quite important so you should read them where possible. As with announcements the board administrator determines what permissions are required to post sticky topics in each forum.

What are Locked topics?
Locked topics are set this way by either the forum moderator or board administrator. You cannot reply to locked topics and any poll contained inside is automatically ended. Topics may be locked for many reasons.
