![]() Banner created by SPAMER101 In spite of the Bonjwa`s Iloveoov and Savior not being able to clash in battle, the games that were played were of preety high quality by themselves. As previously, reviews of the games as well as the previews of Day 3 matches are available. Day 2 Review Kingdom vs. NaDa VOD by Jon747 Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 1) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 2) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 3) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 4) Nostalgia Kingdom started at the 11 o`clock position while Nada started in the 7 o`clock position. While NaDa went for a standard fast gas oppening, Kingdom opted for an agressive economic oppnening with a Nexus at 12. Scouting this, NaDa opted to produce some Marines and apply pressure. Upon reaching Kingdom`s natural, he started buildings two Bunkers, forcing Kingdom to pull Probes for defence. In spite of heavy losses, Kingdom managed to kill all the nearby SCV`s. Eventually, he was able to produce enough Dragoons to fend off the assault and NaDa decided to build a Command Center for an expansion. NaDa tried to put pressure again with some Marines, Vultures and Tanks, but was met head-on by Kingdom`s own force of Dragoons and a Zealot. With careful micro, Kingdom was able to pick off all the tanks and deny the assault. However, he himself lost valuable Dragoons as he attempted to clear Spider Mines without an Observer. Both of them proceeded to build up their respective economies. NaDa also attempted to execute a Vulture harass, but a few well placed Dragoons quickly delt with them. Kingdom established a new expansion at the 12 o`clock while clearing the Vultures that were roaming the middle as well as the mines they were laying. NaDa pursued his harassement, but kept getting foiled by Kingdom. However, he was able to put down an expansion in the 9 o`clock as well as establish a powerful defence line in the middle. The Devil Protoss himself was not slacking as he expanded again (this time, to the 1 o`clock) and teched to Carriers. But NaDa was able to discover the Carrier tech via a Comsat. Hoping to catch Kingdom mid-transition, he started pushing through the middle with his main force. Kingdom responded with a counter-attack, but was eventually forced back due to the depth of NaDa`s defences. While both of them continued to expand (Kingdom at the 1.30 position, NaDa at the 5 o`clock), Kingdom attacked again and killed off some more of NaDa`s forces before he was forced to retreat again. As Kingdom`s first carriers began to arrive, so did NaDa produce his first Goliaths to combat the threat. Finally, the Carriers were used to attack some Siege Tanks, but were fended off rather quickly as the Tornado Terran was quickly able to amass a decently-sized Goliath force. Capitalising on this, Nada pushed towards Kingdom`s 1 and 1.30 expansions. Kingdom delayed NaDa`s force with his Carriers and attempted to hit their rear with the rest of his force, but was forced to retreat. After both of them received reinforcements, another battle ensued. Although NaDa managed to destroy the 1.30 expansion, his Goliaths were killed off rather quickly and reinforcements did not come in time to propel the assault further. NaDa turned to attack the new 3 o`clock expansion, but Kingdom`s carrier micro allowed him to prevent it`s destruction. As the two players stood at a stalemate, NaDa expanded again to the 7.30 position. They proceeded to fight a battle of attrition in the middle as Kingdom used his Carriers to destroy Siege Tanks and Turrets, while NaDa`s Goliaths kept killing off the Interceptors of the Carriers. Using an opening in Nada`s defences, Kingdom moved his force to attack the 7.30 expansion. With the help of Carriers, he was able to delay NaDa`s Goliath force until the expansion was destroyed. After forcing the Carriers to retreat and clearing the remaining Protoss force, NaDa began to reestablish his 7.30 expansion. However, Kingdom did not let up the pressure and attacked the left part of the defence line in the middle. After causing NaDa to suffer significant losses, he was again forced to retreat. NaDa responded with another assault at the 3 o`clock position. In spite of Kingdom`s carriers and reinforcements, it was not enough to stop NaDa and the expansion was destroyed, leaving Kingdom with only two still mining bases. NaDa tried to move towards those bases, but was pushed back and eventually forced to engage with Kingdom`s main force. However, things were not looking good for Kingdom as NaDa`s fully upgraded ground units were superior to his own barely upgraded ones. In addition, his only remaining resources were running dangerously low. For that reason, he began reestablishin his 3 o`clock. However, he was forced into another big engagement. In spite of very good Carrier micro, NaDa`s economic advantage showed through his superior numbers and Kingdom`s ground forces were destroyed. With nothing to defend it, the Devil Protoss lost his 3 o`clock yet again. Out of desperation to reestablish the 3 o`clock, Kingdom attacked NaDa`s main force one more time. With the assault twarted and barely having any minerals remaining, Kingdom finally accepted his defeat. Reach vs. Yellow VOD by Jon747 Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 1) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 2) Commentary by Husky Starcraft (part 3) Outsider Reach started off in the 5 o`clock position while Yellow started in the 1 o`clock position. Due to Outsider featuring a protected natural, Reach did not opt to go for a Forge Fast Expand and initially went for a one Gateway build. Meanwhile, Yellow went for a Spawning Pool on 12. Reach tried to delay Yellow`s expansion, but Yellow hid the Drone behind the mineral line until Reach moved his Probe and then placed his hatchery. Reach did not take kindly to this and switched to an agressive two Gateway Zealot opening. Yellow`s Overlord finally reached Reach`s main to scout this, prompting him to produce more Zerglings and place a Sunken Colony in his natural. As Reach was still pursuing his assault, Yellow decided to play agressively and use his Zerglings to attack Reach`s reinforcements. Finally, Reach built an expansion of his own, but in his regular natural rather then the protected one. Yellow put down another Hatchery and started to pursue Lair tech. While Reach moved some of his Zealots to Yellow`s natural, he did not attack with them and was content to manouver them away from his opponent`s Sunken Colony and Zerglings. Amassing a large Zergling force, Yellow attempted to encircle the roaming Zealots and kill them off. Reach`s timely retreat and reinforcements managed to prevent that. Meanwhile, Reach started teching up as well and a lull fell onto the action. Expectin anti-air soon, Yellow put down a Spire while placing a hatchery in his protected natural. Surely enough, Reach built a Stargate and began researching +1 attack for his air units. Although he tried to kill off Overlords with his first Corsair, it was quickly fended by a pair of Scourge which then managed to kill off a freshly produced Corsair. While Yellow also morphed a Hydralisk Den, Reach decided on a Corsair/Reaver combination (which is powerful on Outsider, due to many expansions being seperated by mineral lines) and placed his Robotics Support Bay as well as another expansion. Since he was vulnerable during the transition, Reach placed several Photon Cannons in his natural to bolster his defence. Yellow placed another Hatchery in the inner 11.30 position while gathering up an assault force of Hydralisks and Zerglings. However, Reach was ready to greet the attack with a Reaver and Yellow was quickly forced to retreat. The Storm Zerg`s Scourge roamed around in attempts to take down Reach`s Corsairs and Shuttles and managed to catch and kill yet another newly produced Corsair. Yellow gathered a large group of Hydralisks and attempted another attack at Reach`s natural. Although managing to kill off Reach`s Shuttle as well as all three of his Reavers, his attack force was decimated while doing so and was left with a single Hydralisks which began to pound away at a new Reaver. A fresh stream of Hydralisks managed to kill off that Reaver as well, but were forced back by the numerous cannons that were built in the natural. With his initial strategy delayed and Yellow dedicating Hydralisks to attacking his natural, Reach opted to hunt Overlord with his Corsairs. Yellow responded by pulling back his Hydralisks and attacking the Corsairs with his Scourge. Although a few hit, Reach still had five Corsairs remaining. He used them to scout Yellow`s base while putting down an expansion in the 8 o`clock position. Yellow expanded himself at the 9 o`clock. However, Reach finally had his force ready and responded by dropping two Reavers there, which forced Yellow to cancel the Hatchery. The Protoss player decided to pursue his great mobility and attacked Yellow`s expansion at the 12 o`clock. Although the majority of Drones saved themselves by burrowing, Reach targeted the Hatchery instead. Since he was unable to protect that hatchery, Yellow opted to attack the natural again. However, four Reavers were available for defence and Yellow`s Hydralisks suffered heavy casualties before retreating. Reach attacked the inner 11.30 position and killed off a few Drones before Hydralisks killed one of his Reavers and he was forced to move elsewhere. Yellow tried expanding again at the 9 o`clock, but was again discovered by Reach`s attack force. However, Hydralisks moved to the position to save the hatchery. Since he was dedicated to developing his air units, Reach teched to Carriers. As he was manouvering his forces, Yellow`s Hydralisks managed to pick off his Shuttle with the Reaver inside. However, Reach had three new Shuttles in reserve and filled them with Reavers and High Templars. In a bold move, Reach decided to assault Yellow`s main. With the help of Disruption Webs, Psi Storms and Reavers, he was able to kill a lot of the defending Hydralisks. However, Yellow`s Hydralisks were numerous and were able to kill three Reavers and the High Templar before Reach retreated. Yellow used the temporary respite to expand again (inner 9) and pursue Hive tech. Reach made another attempt at the 9 o`clock, but was twarted by Hydralisks and Sunken Colonies. Reach retreated and Yellow tried to cut them off, but was greeted by a decent ground force. Combined with the Reavers, they force the Hydralisks away. Reach attacked the main again and he managed to take down some tech buildings (including the Hydralisk Den) as well as some Hydralisks. However, through careful micro, Yellow twarted the assault. But Reach was unwilling to give up the pressure and attacked Yellow`s 8.30 with his ground units. Since Yellow had bleaded out his Hydralisks defending and did not have the means to build them again, he was unable to defend himself. The 8.30 position fell and Reach quickly moved to destory the 9 o`clock as well. Yellow sent a group of Zerglings and Hydralisks to kill the Dragoon force, but was eventually defended. Feeling that victory was near, Reach decided for a coup de grace by dropping in several locations at once. After running out of defending forces and losing fresh sources of gas, Yellow conceeded defeat. BoxeR vs. Anytime VOD by Jon747 Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 1) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 2) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 3) Commentary by HuskyStarcraft (part 4) Destination Anytime started in the 11 o`clock position, while BoxeR started in the 5 o`clock position. Anytime sent an early Probe, allowing him to enter the base before the ramo could be walled off. Both pursued fairly standard builds, taking an early gas and teching. However, BoxeR also delayed his gas gathering for a short time to accumulate minerals for a fast expansion. Anytime managed to scout this before his Probe died and he responded with an expansion of his own. Anytime pressured the front wall with a Dragoon, but was eventually fended off. The Protoss player also opted for some early drops by building a Robotics Facility and both supporting buildings. BoxeR attempted to do some Vulture harass, but was fended off effortlessly. Meanwhile, Anytime sent his Shuttle to drop two Zealots and a Reaver to harass himself, but the drop was scouted and the force was killed without doing much damage. The Protoss player sent another Reaver to harass while expanding to the 2 o`clock position and building a Citadel of Adun. Besides killing a few stray SCV`s, the drop again did not manage to do much damage. Boxer expanded to the 4 o`clock position and built a Starport. Anytime decided to pursue a frontal assault, but was forced to retreat when he ran out of Zealots. Befor BoxeR was able to fortify his new expansion with turrets, Anytime was able to sneak through a Shuttle with a Reaver. He was able to do a fair amount of damage before the shuttle was killed off. Feeling lucky, the Protoss player dropped two High Templar behind BoxeR`s natural and killed off a lot of SCV`s with Storms. However, while expanding to the 3 o`clock, BoxeR harrassed the 2 o`clock with his Siege Tanks. He also attempted to harass Probes with his vultures, but was stopped in time before he could do much damage. Anytime attempted another frontal assault, but was again forced to pull back when he ran out of Zealots. He also made another attempt to harass with High Templar, but did not manage to kill as many SCV`s as before. Anytime made another attempt at a frontal assault, but was twarted again. Meanwhile BoxeR slowly approached the 2 o`clock and managed to destroy the Nexus. BoxeR also tried attacking the 1 o`clock and the 9 o`clock, but was fended off. Anytime concentrated his forces and attacked the 3 o`clock managing to overrun the small defence force there and destroy the Command Center. BoxeR tried to reestablish the 3 o`clock, but was prevented from doing so. However, he finally managed to destroy the 9 o`clock and moved onto the 10 o`clock expansion. Anytime, through severe losses, managed to defend the 10 o`clock. However, BoxeR used the chance to destroy Anytime`s 2 o`clock base, leaving him with only one mining base. Meanwhile, he himself reestablished his 3 o`clock expansion. Not satisfied with this state of affairs, Anytime used his Zealot and Dragoons to clear the 9 o`clock. However, BoxeR used a few Vultures to harass the 10 o`clock, which costed the Protoss player a lot of Probes. The Emperor did not have a stellar economy either, forcing him to take the mineral only at the 8 o`clock. Anytime attempted to prevent this, but was twarted himself. After having his Probes harassed several times again, he no longer had much of an economy to speak off and pursued one more frontal assault. After that failed, Anytime called it quits. Current Group Standings and Day 3 Preview Group A Wins/Losses
YellOw 1/1 Reach 1/1 TossGirl 0/1 Anytime 0/1 Group B Wins/Losses
Savior 1/0 Kingdom 0/2 Nal_rA 0/1 iloveoov 0/0 In spite of iloveoov`s unfortunate illness and TossGirl`s poor performance against Yellow, the Terran players are still doing very well so far in the Heritage League. Both NaDa and BoxeR won their first two matches, putting them in a very strong position to qualify for the semi-finals. But while both of them seem very likely to leave their groups in first place at this point, the second slot in both groups is still very much open. Yellow and Reach both currently share their spot in group A with Anytime still having all of his chances open to him, while Savior claims second place in group B with merely one victory (although iloveoov was set to play against him before he was hospitalised). Iloveoov`s fate in the event remains unknown, as he seems to be still recovering. However, with test results set to arrive barely on the 22nd, it seems increasingly likely that the organisers will be forced to disqualify him. Yellow vs. Anytime So1 OnGameNet StarLeague Group D Yellow and Anytime have very little history between each other, having played only a single game during the So1 OSL back in 2005. In spite of this, Yellow goes into this match in a slightly worse position. His past experiences on the map Outsider, including his Day 2 match with Reach, have shown that he is not capable of dealing with the mobility of a Corsair/Reaver build particularly well. Combined with the fact that he has just come off from a loss in the same matchup and the chances of the Storm Zerg being victorious seem slim. The only thing Yellow can count to his advantage is the fact that Anytime has come off from a poor start in the event by losing to Boxer. Reach vs. TossGirl No VODs available Although Reach and TossGirl have only played twice (1 win for each), there is some funny trivia involved between them. During an exhibition match in Germany, the two agreed to a certain game plan in order to provide non-Korean fans with an entertaining match. However, Reach was nervous beacuse he had lost a match to her before, so he broke his promise and went for different play. When TossGirl mentioned this in her recent interview, Reach publically apologised for it and promised to train hard and beat her. Considering his solid performance against Boxer, that would seem to be a probable outcome. However, TossGirl`s TvP remains a mystery and Reach will have to fight on Python, a battlefield which is somewhat imbalanced towards Terran (40,6% winrate for Protoss). Kingdom vs. Nal_rA MyCube OnGameNet StarLeague Finals (Game 1) - SCTV MyCube OnGameNet StarLeague Finals (Game 2) - SCTV MyCube OnGameNet StarLeague Finals (Game 3) - SCTV MyCube OnGameNet StarLeague Finals (Game 4) - SCTV While the other two matches include players with little to no professional past between them, Kingdom and Nal_rA have a long history of televised matches behind them. Prior to the reign of dominance of Protoss in 2008, these two players (along with Reach) were for years some of the few Protoss that were able to compete at the highest levels of competition. As such, an intense Protoss vs. Protoss rivalry raged between them, culminating in the MyCube OSL finals where Kingdom defeated Nal_rA and claimed his first and only title. With Nal_rA already being a commentator and Kingdom soon to become one, they are ready to carry their rivalry to another field of e-Sports. However, before they do, they have one more score to settle. Enormous stakes are at hand for this match. With their historical score at perfect even (12-12), this match will finally determine the ultimate winner of their long-lasting rivalry. However, Kingdom enters the match with a greater risk then Nal_rA. With already two losses under his belt, this game will determine whether he has any hope remaining of qualifying out of his group. His statement that he has been practicing very hard to beat Nal_rA represents his only advantage as the two are ready to face off in a mirror matchup. That has been all for now, but there is a lot more to come. Do not miss these excellent matches and stay tuned as we continue our coverage of the StarCraft Heritage League. Thank you Tom, havent had the time to watch all the battles from Day 2, just Kingdom vs. NaDa; It was pretty epic! NaDa got an awesome scan from the comsat, those carriers would have wrecked shop otherwise. Comparing these to the Avalon matches I watched a few days ago the SHL battles from day 1 and Kingdom vs. NaDa are much more fun to watch (and more gruesome too i
