A topic in Korean boards was discussing about the carrier's design. Criticisms included but was not limited to:
"It looks like a flying vulture."
"Does not look battle-worn."

A response was given by the korean community manager Kicho:
Quote by Kicho
우주모함(Carrier)이 전작 처럼 조금 더 단아하면서 무게감이 느껴졌으면 하시는 듯 한데 맞나요?

다른 분들의 느낌은 어떠신가요?

Translation: So you think the Carrier should, similar to ones in starcraft 1, be more elegant and dense/heavy? What do you guys think?

Do you think this means that carrier may go through a redesign? What do you guys think about the current design of carrier?

It wold be a lot easier to chose if we could see what the new design would be... In my opinion the Carrier looks just the way it should... like a Protoss capital ship.

The carrier really needs to be improved, to something more menacing, and the way it's portraited in the lore!

The Carrier could use an Art overhaul like the Zerg just went through and maybe a few other Protoss units. I seems the Carrier pic you have is a simple model and I doubt it will make it in game. So what do you people think it should look like?

Doesn't it feel a little empty? I mean, the old (starcraft 1) design was filled and seemed like a heavy ship, but now it looks light.

i agree i would rather it looked more like how it does in SC1 in a more heavy capital ship. Now it seems like its to light and empty..

The interior is suppose to be fairly empty I though.

protoss have lost their homeworld and most of their manufacturing plants hence the carrier looks slimmer and sleeker because now they lack the resources needed to build them as they used to be.

Lore wise I guess it would have to be since it IS a "carrier" with interceptor ships and templars. Carrier right now looks a lot like a sculpture than a battle class capital ship. And the difference between the old carrier and the new carrier seems so much for the time that have been passed. I see almost no resemblance between the old and the new carrier.

Even so, they probably wouldn't go through such radical change for a ship with same purpose and durability.

I believe that the carrier should be bigger and bulkier. It should also have some parts dangling or something , you know as a sign that it has been through some tough times. If not that then the Carrier should have like scratches on the hull, just a suggestion.
In this case I believe bigger would be better.

If you look at the SC1 design you can see it is mostly hallow inside just they did a good job of covering it up like in the concept art piece. as for being tough to take hits well thats what shields are for.

The scratches wouldn't make any sense for the protoss units, since their units don't wear out, as they are protected by shields, but it could work for the terrans.
