Will M.U.L.Es and Proton Charged probes be able to harvest Vespene Gas? In some video the narrator keeps on saying that the probes will be able to harvest minerals faster specifically. But does it go both ways? The M.U.L.E seems a bit more obvious because it's huge and looks like a miner. The M probably stands for minerals. Can they still get gas? But if this isn't the case then this gives the zerg an advantage that the extra drones can gets gas too, and will make it more fair for the people who keep on complaining about it.

Theres no point in getting the obelisk if your probes lose the ability to harvest gas but I don't know if mules can harvest gas I just heard they repair and harvest minerals.

It only applies to minerals, for both.

This was one of Ukalla98's high quality avatars on his topic that he made:

You can see the Probe is charged. Was this just from an old video or something??

I think what knee is trying to say is if the probe is under the influence of proton charge when it enters the refinery shouldn't it still get a +1.

Proton Charge only apply to minerals, it's basically charging every Probe that gets caught in the AoE with +1 mineral capacity, but not +1 vespene capacity.

I don't know, gear said it applies to minerals only.

Edit: what Psi said.

It seems that the area of effect on that Probe merely indicates that the probe can get more minerals if you choose to use it to mine and won't affect a gas miner in any way. Good to know that mules are also mineral-only.

Ohhhh I see what knee was saying now. By AoE, I meant of the actual bility to charge the probes. I was saying maybe the Probe that was getting the Vespene gas was near when it was used, since there would be no point in charging him anyway because it doesn't affect vesp.

All probes within the area of effect of the spell will be charged. But only ones mining minerals will get the buff, even though its on the vespene ones as well.
