You guys are all forgetting that irrad ONLY hurt bio units, therefore irad is pretty much only good for zvz whereas HSM hurts any and all things...

terran and protoss had biological units 2 lol but zerg had more so it would be more affective against them then against the other races i suppose..

Yep.
Why would I research irrad in a tvp when I could just as easily research emp.
And in tvt you don't really need a vessel unless your opponent goes mass wraith or something.
Irrad was really only good vs zerg...and it did hurt them a lot.

Yes. In BR3 Matt Cooper tries to burrow a unit targeted by HSM and the HSM still killed the unit. As for Nyda worms and infestors, I have no idea. Maybe someone that has played knows something about it.
