Really? DoW is a complete knock off of Starcraft. Don't give me that crap that Warhammer existed long before SC. The game itself is completely based off of SC. The fact that the lore existed before was completely irrevelant. SC's gameplay is original.

Does DoW have the same strategic depth as SC? No. It is a far inferior game.

I've played DoW 2 when it came out as a free demo on steam. Yes, the graphics were amazing. The gameplay was absolute ****.

Uhm... no. I'm on the Relic forums. Half the people there adore SC, and when there's some idiot who goes on about how stupid StarCraft is, they tell them to shut up.

And how is DoW 'completely based off of SC'? Give me one exact example. OH NO YOU CAN CONTROL UNITS WITH YOUR MOUSE AND GUIDE THEM AROUND WITH YOUR RIGHT CLICK. IT MUST BE COPIED. OH NO IT HAS A FUNCTIONAL UI, IT MUST BE COPIED.
DoW may seem like SC, and maybe it is. But it doesn't try to BE StarCraft. DoW is like StarCraft like StarCraft is to other RTS games. Spin it however you like, StarCraft doesn't do anything particularly special with the gameplay itself. The UI is the same as most RTSs, the controls are the same as most RTSs.
StarCraft did nearly nothing different in terms of the 'gameplay'. The way it's executed, however, the perfect balance and it's incredible racial differences is what differentiates it from other RTSs. It's the same case with DoW. It didn't necessarily change the way RTSs are executed, it didn't absolutely morph everything to try to make itself unique. It just said, okay, look. Let's take a tried and true method and make it our own. I understand the fan-love, I love Blizzard, and StarCraft is my favourite RTS, though there's really no excuse for talking crap about a quality company. Especially when you can just say StarCraft is a complete knockoff of Dune, or C&C. And when you try to defend that statement, you'll say exactly what I'll say. They're different games that play to their own strengths.

For an RTS, I prefer basebuilding and whatnot to the Headquarters style of DoW2.

Ok, that might be a bit much.

DoW is technically a lot of base-building (at least in the first one), though they push a lot more of the action away from the base and into the units and strategies.

Well, I mean, I liked building up bases, setting up defenses, upgrading and all that. Dawn of war 2 was just..... I dunno, different.

Please stop fighting here about DoW and SC, or whatever game. This thread is for original, funny starcraft motivational posters. I may not have stressed it, but come on guys, we are in a SC2 fan-based site, and all prior posts were clearly about SC/SC2. Implication seems clear enough.
