Marathon: Durandal

So I recently got my xbox 360 w/ live, and my brother stumbled across something wonderful, a download ($8.00 for the points to get it I think), it was Marathon 2: Durandal, the second in the first trilogy Bungie ever made from 1995, and possibly the greatest game ever. It's the inspiration for Halo, but way better. It was the first first person shooter to allow you to allow you to turn your head, left right, up and down, also the first to allow dual-wielding, and countless other innovations. It's in the year 2780 or something, your under the command of the rampant supercomputor Durandal (Durandal is the name of a ledgendary, supposedly magic sword, used by the real life, almost mythical paladin, Roland, obviously, I love this game) and your fighting the alien slaver-species Phfor (pronounced four.)
The art was done by Craig Mullins, who has done a ton of Sc fi art, including the Matrix, gallery below. http://marathon.bungie.org/temp/cmullins.html?page=1 Anyway, I was excited enough to temporarily change my sig and avatar to match it, if you have and xbox 360 and live, I highly recommend Marathon, even if you just play it as a novelty, this game is simply epic, and even if you hate Halo, you ought to love this, it's just incredable how well made it is. Oh, and please, read the text, the whole story is communicated by talking to Durandal in computor terminals. So this explaings your new 'trend' if it's not to bold to say, haha. ^^ io
I'm not interested in Xbox, but First Shooters FTW. And Craig Mullins FTW. |
