If those white marines come from any of those factions, I'd say its Umojan Protectorate. They're supposed to use different technology too. I doubt Blizzard will give the UED an important role in the SC2 storyline and the Kel-Morian Combine's technology is more related to the Confederate/Dominion technology since the Guild Wars, with each side trying to steal technology to catch up with the other, just like the Wraith was used by both, replacing the previous Confederate Avenger and Morian Hellhound.

Maybe we will see that Phash guy, the one with a psionic son. I don't remember is he's a senator, magistrate or anything like that, but he's a rebel and he's living under the protection of the Umojans, and he supports anti-dominion groups, so he may know Raynor and help the Raiders.

i never read the novels of starcraft but ive been hearing that some of the characters from the book will make an apperance in the story, like valerian and nova. i dont know where else to write this message and im to lazy to make a new thread so would anyone be able to speculate what new characters we will see in hots?

I've made a list below of the characters we might see in HotS. Keep in mind that although these characters bring an important factor into the starcraft literature, I doubt all of them, if any of them, will actually make it into the game. Remember, this is just my speculations:

Characters we might see in HotS:

* = This character might not be seen but instead (breifly) mentioned. See list below.

Notes: Tassadar (deceased?) made a comeback in Wings of Liberty and played a small role; he may be seen again in the future. Jake Ramsey, holding the rank of archaeologist, is a Terran who is affilated with the Protoss ranks (much like Raynor) and has had a history with High Templar Preservers. Fenix (deceased), holding the rank of Praetor, was a heroic Zealot and close friend of Raynor (Note: Fenix's death will be touched upon in Heart of the Swarm, confirmed). Ulrezaj is an infamous and powerful Dark Archon who is commander of the Tal'Darim forces.

Notes: Malcom, holding the rank of Wrangler, is a close friend and partner of Nova. Ethan Stewart (deceased) was a personal advisor and right-hand man to Infested Kerrigan, replacing the role of Infested Duran. Leonid, holding the rank of Ghost General, is a dominion overseer of the Ghost Program. Cole is an infamous War Pig outlaw. Zamara (deceased), holding the rank of Preserver, was a companion to Jake and held important memories of the dead Protoss.

Also, I have way to much time on my hands.

I'd love to see some Protoss action, hopefully of the Protoss protectorate actually attempting to kill her since I assume Zeratul is too lazy to tell them of the "Apocalypse Future". Then we get to see them fracture like the Terrans they truly are.

I have this horrible feeling that the story aspect of HOTS is going to be even worse than it was in WOL (which was horrible.) Which saddens me as am a big fan of SC lore. Let's all hope that Blizzard will prove me wrong.
We can be certain of few things:
1.Kerrigan rebuilding her broods and eliminating the opposition.
2.High school drama between Raynor and Kerrigan.
3.Kerrigan inner turmoil and confussion is she Zerg or terran.
4.Hybrids will become an open threat in Korpulu, very likely we will find out more about Dark Voice and possibly Duran.
5.The fall of Emperor Arcturus Mengsk. His son Valerian taking over the Terran Dominion.
6.Many fractions in Koprulu including Dominion and Protoss on Shakuras will try to eliminate Kerrigan.
7.Zeratul involvement will be trough the continuation of his research on the hybrids.

I think most are going to get just mentioned. I think is was mentioned that they where looking into more of a role for Michael Liberty. He could see him fitting in with HotS form what I read about him on wiki. Fenix and Duke I think are going to come up due to Kerrigan's hand in their deaths(Fenix brought up with Raynor, at least). As for Ulrezaj, on wiki I read that he is imprisoned, although if he does come in perhaps it would be with connection to the Hybrids. I think Ulrezaj might be in LotV if he does show up though, causing internal conflict with the Protoss(Blizzard loves doing this). Ramsey is another one we could see in LotV rather than HotS. We know there will be Protoss in HotS(not just because Blizzard likes to show all three races, but also since we have seen them in the trailer) what we do not know is if they will be Tal'darim or if they are Protoss under Artanis.

That is about all the opinions I have at the moment on who will show up.

The character of Liberty, as a optomistic anti-dominion reporter, was instead replaced by Kate Lockwell in WoL. Liberty had his own book, after all, Liberty's Crusade, so there's no reason to bring him into the game as a large role. However Metzen did express interest in adding him in HotS or LotV

I think at this point the main Protoss 'bad guys' are the Tal'darim. They are sort of the the terrorists of the Protoss factor. If anything I'd speculate seeing them more than the actualy Protoss force of Shakuras. I mean think about it, the Protoss of Shakuras have completely isolated themselves from the Kuprulu sector. The only time we actually see them participating in the Second Great War was on the Safe Haven mission to purge the Zerg.

That is what I was talking about. Your post is kind of what I was trying to say with mine.

Also, yeah I was thinking that people in books would not be main roles in SC2, but they might still have important role or mention.

Might I direct people's attention back to the NVIDIA video card contest we had last summer? This was where people created story line predictions to Heart of the Swarm. We can start comparing how accurate (to a degree) people actually were for the contest.

kind of funny how I read the winners story, and it's not really close to what is shown in the trailer. Though his is the most written out, some other people who attended the contest made more sense then what he wrote about. Still, anything IS possible though, so who knows. His might yet again, be the closest guess towards HoTS, hell it might even be the worst.

Sigh, in the game the size factor is so off. The ultra is so big compared to the ling in the picture but in the game... and when the ultra pops out of that tiny egg that holds a drone... it's really creepy how the size is so different in the trailers. (and the huge bc)

That's a good argument. You should post this complaint on the Battle.net forums and let Blizzard know they failed at realism, since it is such an important factor in Starcraft 2.

I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out that everything we did in WOL actually helped bring the Starcraft universe to destruction. If it turns out that Raynor wasn't suppose to use the artifact and change Kerrigan back ... I'm going to smack someone at Blizzard. If anything I want them to pull off something completely unexpected, like end on the same note as Broodwar but different.

The only thing I'm really excited for and also wish wasn't there was the Cinematic where you see the zerg drop pods coming down on the marines. It's going to be such a awesome Cinematic, just the sheer detail of it and also because you get to see the beginnings of a Zerg invasion in such detail, but the marines are red and I'd hate for the Zerg to be invading the Dominion.

I have question in trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyxg5SWgAMM then at 0:36 is standing Sarah after using Psionic powers (explosion) on the enemy marines ( i think ) during the attack of Nova Terra then after explosion come Raynor and says *sarah* when she is standing and we are looking at her back and raynor is behind her and then later dont know when is Sarah alone on some zerg planet and trying to put together zergs... And im asking why is she alone? I think she didnt just run from them but there must be reason because Raynor was with her when she used the psionic powers ( on hyperion probably ) but mby then after this happended something. I guess no one knows but if someone have some theory . I think she agreed with Raynor that she need to reunion the zergs and be rdy to fight together with Raynor againts Mengsk for revenge and againts hybdrids...

lumicko i think its because kerrigan was in a contained and isolated facility so she could recover.
