We all know the roach is going through some controversial times and that it's fight for an end has yet to come. So i want to ask, in your very own opinions what would you like best for the roach. This is gonna be a lengthy post so get ready =P

Option A: The roach, when it was first released into the public's eye it was a meat shield, it regenerated at an enourmous rate while still having some fire-arms. Some said if you mixed them in with an initial army it would be devestating as it would draw fire from the enemies as they had two options, either focus fire down the roaches first or deal with them in the end when your army is at it's weakest, making it possible to die anyways. So, In this option you are voting for resetting their original ability to heal at 15 per second, and 25 per second if upgraded but reduce its overall hp back down to about 100, and maybe lower the bonus damage vs light by 2 (this would fix the zerg vs zerg issue going on about will it turn into roach vs roach wars).

Option B: The roach has only it's ability to burow underground, otherwise it is a hydralisk with twice the health, +25 minerals -25 gas cost, twice the supply and instead of a bonus vs armored it's vs biological, and a strong one at that by doubling it's damage (not to mention the healing underground). So my idea here is to allow it to research an ability which will allow it to go into armor mode (Sorry for stealing your thunder guy who presented this type of idea earlier, i posted about it but the thread is out of use i guess), in which it will heal at the same rate of being burrowed, and have 33% damage reduced but no attack. With this they could go in the front, defence mode and soak up the damage somewhat like they were "intended" to do.

Option C: It's pretty fine, I don't have an issue with it. Keep it the same maybe beta will show some signs of epicness with it.

Option D: BRUTALISK! sorry guys i had to do that =D

Yes, the Roach was invented by Blizzard as meat shield, but now,
with automatic regen gone, it seems useless. The recent videos showed
that they really were weak and easy to kill. Even pro players didn't bother
to burrow them...which is understandable...burrowing during heat of battle is dangerous.

THus I want auto-regen Roach back.

I also prefer option 1. IMO they should just reduce the healing rate a bit, to about 10/sec and 15 or 20 when upgraded and then the HP should be modified according to balance.

Hey, people seriously stop choosing Brutalisk (option D).
It won't make it in multiplayer...

Seems to me that people want roaches to replace the role hydralisks had in SC, minus the GtA.

I disagree. People seem to want roaches more as meat buffer than
major assualt unit while making hydralisks major support unit.

My only problem with fast regen while unburrowed is that it isn't noob friendly for the enemy. It might make Zerg too strong when the player skill on both sides is lower than your average bear.

Keeping fast regen while burrowed makes the Roach a lot like the Stalker. They're not very strong when you send them alone to the front lines, but they're devastating with lots of micro.

I didn't realise that there was a problem with the Roach. It still is a meat shield last time I heard. THere is no point having it in the game if it has mediocre healing. Roach without its healing ability is pretty much a Hydralisk that cannot hit air.

I perfer opion A better.
Option B is making a a bunker that has a lame speed and crap attack to no attack at all.
Option C is pretty leave it as its gay self.
Option D, f*ck off.

Option A seems like it would be the best option. But definitely lower the regen rate, 15 health per second is too fast. I would say 10 at the most, maybe an upgrade to 20 when you have a Hive.

I voted for C.

Im not a huge Zerg fan, so I don't really have any strong opinions about this, BUT I think/hope Blizzard will get it balanced + interesting.

Why not give it insane armor, like 6 or something? It will keep it's weakness to high damage things like Siege tank, while keeping it's defence vs small units like marines. And if it kept the regain while burrowed ability, you could still use hit n' run tactics.
This would make it more noob friendly, and still fill in it's role.

I liked one presons suggestion way better, where the roach only regained health when it attacked. That would make it a way better offensive unit, where tunneling is kind of more defensive.
