I think I remember hearing about this way back before joining the armory. *shakes head with disappointment*
Never thought something like that would actually happen in Japan. Is this even legal over there? I mean, its ok to like characters in a video game, may it be rpgs, 1st-person shooters or whatever, but to go so far as to marry themselves to these fictional characters is downright.... I don't know, anything I say may sound racist or something, and if I have to hate someone, I'd hate everybody. >.> Hearing about It makes me want to throw-up.

Thats not nice! Someone loved Tidus so much from FFX that they got a friend to cosplay as them, And they married and she dressed up as Yuna and he dressed up as Tidus.. They never take off there clothes now.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with your post, but I was refering to marrying the in-game material, not real life people who play as them. I don't care about people cosplaying and marrying each other; for all I care, they can do whatever they want with their lives. I'm a bit of a programmer (noob on that, please don't ask me questions on it) and a science guy myself, and the concept of marrying in-game characters, in which these characters have no awareness nor feelings for the player whatsoever, is extremely baffling to people like me. My opinions remain the same, and I hope I cleared up any misunderstandings on what you thought I said and meant.

So you're saying that if in place of the DS it was a self-aware hyper-intelligent AI, it would be OK? |
|

Well then of course there's the fact that it is physically useless. That would give the person more of a reason to marry though. |

For people to literally become so elapsed THAT much in either a grasp on reality, lack of social discipline or just simple loneliness is quite sad in my opinion.
While I will say, marrying one's game character on a DS is by far the most awkward (because the Tidus / Yuna couple are at least still a physical couple and that's not unlike role playing a sex game anyway.), the video game effected people who die from mal nutrition or give up their job and real life friends just to get in that extra hour of play have really some other problem that needs to be addressed. I do blame alot of that crap on sociaty in general, the anti-intelectual part of society makes it rather hard for those of us "nerdy" types, but come on... what in the **** really pushes us to the limits of this crap? Honestly? |

That's a reasonable (bit questionable) concept right there, and that's something I can't really answer now, can I? ![]() We probably won't be around to figure that question out by the time the human race does successfully develop self-aware hyper-intelligent AIs. Life is too short, and now that question is reminding me of a movie I saw in middle school of a story about this robot, who starts out like we see robots as, metallic alloys and such, and then later he gets synthetic skin and eventually gets these synthetic organs later on during its 200 years of 'living it life', eventually becomes a legal human being falling in love with a woman during its course in 'life'. The movie is a bit sketchy at best, and I don't remember the name of it either. Edit: lol, good one Medevas!

O that is wrong, that is so wrong. I mean who does that, marrying someone by chatting with them, thats ok, marrying someone in a internet based game, loser, marrying a game, twisted.
At the end ha ha ha hi hi hi, o this guy is a nerd and a loser.

I guess he just realised that video game/anime women are just better then the real thing.
![]() Anyway, I think he will eventually realise the physical limitations of a video game bride and "dump her". ![]() |
