Ghost: Special Ops(Concept Change)

So we all know that the ghost is black ops/special ops.
So what do special ops do? They go behind enemy lines and do special reconnaissanceand sabotage and selective assassination. 1.So, the Ghost has cloak already, so that helps his niche, keep that. 2. It has snipe, which fits the niche as well, but needs work. 3. It has EMP, I can see how this is helpful, but i doesnt feel very ghosty to me, it fits the Raven more. And although the detect invis units with EMP seems very cool, i dont really see a reason to get a Ghost to maybe hit invis units to detect them over a comsat or just getting a Raven with detection, considering their cost. Suggestions: 1.Give the shadow ops to be able to launch a cloaked Drop Pod, with 1 ghost in it. This will resemble the way special ops are deployed behind enemy lines to do their nastyness. The moment the drop pod hits the ground, the ghost is already cloaked and loses energy, so you can eithe turn it off and stay cloaked and find a safe spot. 2. Give the ghost a spy-drone ability. So this will be like the SC1 queen parasite, it will give sight of the unit that you cast it on. This will play out more for the Ghost/special ops reconnaissance. It will also be useful to know whats going on, help siege tanks etc. Props to "TheGreenMachine" for inspiring this idea to me, but what if the ghost can plant a hidden tower into the ground that doesnt attack, just gives good sight range? 3. Remove snipe and give the ghost a "lock in" mode. So what this does is, it gives the ghost extra range, 2,3,4 and/or extra damage vs light units(HT, DT, Infestors, Other Ghosts) or a little of both whatever seems balanaced, maybe just range, maybe just damage. In this mode the ghost will be able to pick off targets from far away or do so swiftly. This skill will replace Snipe, and will be on a timer, much like stimpack, only it will have some other penalty. For instance, it can take 2-3 seconds, and after the effect, it will take 2-3 seconds to go back to normal. 4. Lastly I've always thought it would be a cool idea to mix in the Sensor Tower with either the Ghost or the Siege tank. An old idea of mine was to use the Sensor tower to connect with a siege tank and be able to shoot targets in the fog of war(although still in the siege tank normal range) without the need of an actual spotter or connect it with the Ghost to give him some benefit, either range, or line of sight or something of the sort. 5. Again props to "TheGreenMachine", but what if the ghost has an EMP mine? It only activates on units with mana? Or it can just drop a remote control mine/bomb/emp bomb, one at a time only. Keep the nuke. Thoughts? |

Ghost is almost fine, I do not think there is any need to change the abilities, thought it could use little tuning.

I do agree with the idea that EMP revealing passive cloak from DT is kinda redundant because ravens are cheaper than ghosts. Also EMP would remove all energy from the unit it hits so things that use energy to cloak will uncloak anyways. I could see EMP changed drastically in the near future, possibly removed because ravens already have too many abilities.
EMP could be replaced by something like maelstrom, or possibly just a better snipe, or maybe something similar to spider mines that removes shield and energy and does a very small amount of damage (put it on ghost). Or maybe something like a "bomb" that a ghost places next to an enemy and after 5 seconds or so it explodes and acts like the old EMP but costs less energy to use. And lets say detectors can see the bomb and kill it before it goes off. Ghosts are sneaky they would use that. |

Some of your ides like sensor tower + ghost, will be to OP so I don't like it.
I agree when emp should be with raven, and spy drone should be replaced with it. Snipe is good enough. That drop od pod thing sounds really good. So yeah.

ghost are my all time favorite terran unit, i think the drop pod idea is quite nice but 3 ghost is more loe wisely correct (unless is the hero ghost lolz, anyways 3 ghost makes a good op team [fyi this would cost a ghost price multiply by 3 plus the drop pod it self) ghost should still have snipe ( duh that's what does canister rifles are for) but sniper shoot take more time, also ghost should have a satellite scan not a scout drone (that is more of a marine or reaper production) ghost should have the satellite or area scan

Drop pod idea is certainly interesting but I don't like spy-drone idea and
the other snipe idea. Terran already has scanner...no need to terran parasite. Ghost is not meant for massacre with his gun, only with his nuke... |

How does this ability conflict with nuke? Could you hold nukes and the deploying craft at the same time?

THe ghost has too many abilities at the moment. But it is fine the way it is. A spy drone would be nice but it would add too much to its ****nal. If the ghost were to have a spy drone it should be use on buildings.
The drone should be attached to say a factory or barracks, as a spy it should tell you for about 60 seconds (time can vary i guess), what the enemy is building. I think this would fit in better with a spy concept.

I believe the EMP was given to the Ghost to make him more useful. People would only make Ghosts if they were going nukes in SC1 (or if they had to deal with massive amounts of strong mechanical units, like Carriers or BCs). All in all, they were very situational (and horrible to use against Zerg players because of all biological units and overlords). I think Blizzard wants players to use them less situational, which is why they added EMP to them, and Snipe can be used to take out Templars/Terran Infantry/Zerg.
Lore-wise, EMP has been used to take out computer systems or power in an area, which does make sense to throw it on a Ghost. Sabotage is just one of their tricks. I would like to see maybe a very small detection radius around the ghost, maybe a range of 1 or 2. It would make sense, since they can use their psi to 'feel' other things around them. Think Nova's psi-vision from SC: Ghost. That way, if they pass some burrowed/cloaked units, they'll know about them, and the short range would be to balance it. |

I just dont like the EMP on the ghost, i dont think it fits him well.
And i think some sort of mines/hidden bombs is more appropriate. |

The ghost is fine as it is. Useful, but not OP and I like the way he is now, with the EMP and everything.

I think the Ghost is fine the way he is now. He now has alot more uses than in SC1. He can EMP and detect with the EMP,nuke,snipe and cloak. It makes Terran players need the Ghost for the Zerg(snipe,nuke) and for the Protoss.(EMP,nuke)

All good ideas... however keep the snipe since the ghost has a sniper ... your tank and senser tower combo is bascaily the ghost-nuke combo ... your spy idea is like you said copying queens from SC
I miss lockdown ... they should give the ghost lockdown back.. but make it less energy so you can actualy use it .. and then give the raven EMP

hm...seems fine but i would keep the Snipe..sorry but I want to build ten ghosts (like a commando team XD) and start sniping Ultras and groups left and right lol! but overall I do like the cloak drop pod ._. makes it feel...mysterious and deadly
