Chapter 5 - The Convening of the Fates - I "Greetings, young Nullifier," a deep dark voice welcomed Miranda's senses as she felt herself materialize into a dark unfamiliar chamber. "What tidings from the astral winds?" the voice came yet again. "Kerrigan, as always, is on the move," another voice said. Miranda looked around and saw that the source of the second voice was the templar that killed the Gorgon. Charles and the Cleric twins were beside her, all standing and staring silently and anxiously. "I presume you've seen our guests, master?" the templar addressed as the Nullifier asked the entity owning the deeper voice. "Indubitably," the deep voice replied, followed immediately by quiet footsteps. As the sound of the walking feet came closer, its owner was bathed in light, and Miranda saw another protoss templar, much larger and possibly more powerful and ancient than the Nullifier. "I see you have done well on your first mission," the deep voiced templar said. "Is that one of her creations? The Gorgons?" The protoss pointed to the writhing Gorgon at the Nullifier's feet. "Indeed, executor. Akyltharin and Kleinos have lots of information for the council regarding Kerrigan's new minions," answered the Nullifier. "Well done you two. Well done indeed," the executor complimented to an invisible pair. Miranda could not see who the executor was addressing despite the ancient protoss looking at their direction. "I knew that I could trust you both. You two have always been the best of our morphs. "And these terran visitors?" the executor continued, still talking to the pair of names the Nullifier said moments ago. "Vanguards. Elite warriors and soldiers of the Terran collective," chorused by strikingly familiar voices. Miranda looked around. Charles was just as confused while the twins were alert. Except they were not Kyle and Klein anymore. They looked magnificent and noble, just like the executor himself, no less. Before Miranda and Charles could react from the revelation of the twins being two of the four protoss now surrounding them, a voice came and contested the twins' statement. "Not really." Out from the darkness came a spectacled man. Beside him stood a woman Miranda knew too well--the reporter she had arrested outside the Casa. =============================================================================== finally arranged my schedule so I could visit the armory every now and then. Welcome back, silent_templar! I hope this means that you will be able to keep in contact with the armory for the foreseeable future. Kudos on the plot twist. A very unexpected turn of events indeed. I assume that the protoss will be major players from here on in. Indeed you have plenty to catch up on I'm sure (*cough* like my fan-fic *cough*).

Thanks guys. Despite being 'back', my appearances will still be somewhat rare, but I promise I will do everything I can to continue writing my stories for you all.
![]() BTW, I have lots of new units and characters to show in this book, and boy major plot twists! What's my fan fiction without the twists?? XD |

Glad to have you back.
![]() I was hoping that I didn't have to try and replace you, because I would have done horribly in your place. I barely have the genius to have the great stories that you come up with. Good chapter, though I must admit that it was a little confusing until the end of the part. The twins were Protoss spies, very interesting. It seems that the Protoss have Changelings of their own now.

I agree it was bit confusing, but it worked didn't it? Miranda and Charles themselves were confused, so were we. I think that proves silent's ability to make us feel like his characters do (and now that I looked back at the chapter, it wasn't that confusing after all). Plus he did like two major revelations in just a small part of a chapter.

Thanks for the edit, it is a lot easier to understand. At first I had thought that there were more Protoss because of the way that you were pinning the name Nullifier to one of them.
Not that the confusion took away anything from the story. It is a good piece of work. I hope that you will update this soon.

II "General Walrodd, what do we do?" Clara asked, panic in her voice. Charles and Miranda, along with the twins were nowhere to be found, and Reese was dying right before them. Walrodd was simply staring blankly at Reese. The big soldier's launcher was lying useless on the ground. The zerg took this opportunity to strike anew, but the arrival of two Altairs of Wasps forced them back. Reese's bloody mangled face looked up at Walrodd and Clara. "Leave, my friends." "We won't leave you!" the Walrus cried out over the roar of nearby Wasps sniping the advancing zerg. "There's nothing you can do. I will only slow you down. Look..." Reese pointed at something on a nearby ultralisk's foot. Green gas was seeping out from the ground. "We are on an unstable field of vespene gas. One baneling could trigger massive explosions that could wipe all of us out. Go!" "No!" Clara shouted. She bent and picked up the dying Vanguard, but a geyser of vespene burst right in front of her, completely shrouding the latter. The cleric shouted in pain, and Walrodd was forced to pull her off Reese. "I'm sorry, Reese," Walrodd said. His voice was trembling. It did not fit his bulky build and tough personality. Cracks were creeping around them, and more gas escaped from the ground. Reese saw banelings unborrowing from a hill to the north, as well as from a cliff to the east. "G-Go!" Reese choked through the suffocating gas. Walrodd carried Clara into the nearest Wasp. To his right, snow began to melt and, along with the ground, collapsed down the subterranean chambers now empty of gas. Walrodd barely had his foot inside the Wasp when the ground he stood on just a second ago also collapsed downward, releasing thick poison-green fumes. "Captain, take us to the Primal 1!" Walrodd shouted. The captain nodded and took the Wasp out of the screen of vespene. Walrodd saw a glimpse of infantry holding on to the speedy Scorpion tanks headed for the nearest Medivacs. Everyone was trying to get out of the area. The zerg were no longer the major problem, for even the zerglings and predalings so keen on taking out marines minutes ago were now also scrambling away. Now Walrodd understood why just a single brood faced the entire might of the guild. =============================================================================== |

This simply keeps getting better and better. It was a great move on the part of the zerg. Perhaps the Gorgon is more deadly than we used to think, using the environment to her advantage.
This is exactly what I like about your battles, silent. ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW. Keep it up!
