Part One:
Unigog, Servant of the Swarm

Chapter One:
Legion of Blades

I, yes, I stood on the plains of this dreadful planet. The roars, screams, and slime disgust me. When standing upon the creep, I can feel it's corruption seeping into me. That is why I have sought out my solitude. The cool, crisp air was refreshing, it soothed me as I thought about the Hive that I took leave from. The air out in the open is unlike the close, hot, rancid air within the Hive. Like I said before, the Hive disgusts me.

I kicked a rock up and drew my blade. As the rock descended, I sliced it in half, just to see if I could. The two halves flew apart with the force I exerted.

Standing on the plains, I questioned my purpose. I do not believe the nightmare I have awoken to. How did I acquire language when I am only days old? How come I am psionically resistant? Why am I completely severed from the very Swarm that I was created to serve? And last, yet foremost, why am I an individual? On top of that, I worry about my fate, for it is uncertain and unanswerable. I can stand here all day and ask questions, but I am hungry and desire to hunt.

I have tracked a scouting Zergling to the plains I now occupy and I ready myself for the first taste of flesh. Seeing my quarry, I pulled a spine from a fleshy pouch. The spine looked as if it had been created for the purpose of throwing, which is how I planned to use it. The Zergling was quite a ways out, but that didn't stop me from putting my strong limbs to use. One quick flick and the spine glew gracefully from my hand, it sailed toward the Zergling and struck the poor creature in the head. I watched it fall over and twitch, I did not go to my prey immediately. I suspected that my Mistress may be watching, while the Zergling lived.

I cautiously approached the fallen Zerg. Cutting off the head and stripping the meager flesh from the carcass, I took the flesh and attempted to consume it. The taste was vile, like slime in a solid form. Not to mention that the meat was far from tender, it was so tough that I have to cut it into smaller pieces just to swallow it. I guess I shouldn't complain because I am so hungry. I just wonder how, and why, the Zerg eat each other. From my single experience I have decided that I will no longer eat the flesh of a Zerg.

Leaving the carcass, and still hungry for that matter, I will continue my wonderings and dabblings into my nature and purpose. I have never understood the glory of being a Zerg. The imagines and memories implanted in me during my gestation disturb me. I see no honor in genocide, destruction, and wallowing in the blood of the enemy. It is such a waste of life, for the Swarm to produce thousands of underlings and throw them wastefully against two unwavering enemies, the enigmatic, misunderstood Protoss and the survival driven Terrans. If I was bred for fighting the Protoss, why should I fight them? They have directed no harm to me. But regardless of my opinions, I must fight for my Mistress. Though I am not sure why I should.

You sure are a busy little fanfic writer, hm..... a zerg unit with a fairly independant mind I'll see where this heads to before rendering a opinion although I can imagine zerg meat being less than a healthy snack.

A doubting warrior is a dangerous servant, methinks.

Btw, I only noticed this now, and wow. Did you just start on you sequel? Or is this a spin-off from Fallen Saint, in the point of view of the unigog?

This is the sequel to Fallen Saint.

I would have to agree that Unigog is dangerous because of his doubts, as well as the fact of him being completely disconnected from the Swarm.

Also, I believe that Zerg meat is disgusting. And I portrayed that through Unigog.

Lol I was confused for a second there...I thought you were starting yet another completely new story I like the way this is going, it is definitely expanding on Fallen Saint so far instead of just continuing with the same ideas. good work!

I had wandered the plains for hours, my stomach was growling angrily at me and my feet began to hurt. While I was wandering, I had been watching the sun rise over the horizon and begin to lick the landscape with its delicious reds, oranges, golds, and various other hues.

I was walking around, the Hive Cluster I originate from is just a eerie hand reaching into the dawning sky. The very thought of returning sent chills down my spine. Looking around at the landscape again, I noticed specks moving at a fast speed crossing the plains toward me.

As they got closer, I noticed that they were Zerglings. On edge, I placed a hand on one of my hip blades, ready to draw in a second's notice. The Zerglings slowed their run as they got closer. Surrounding me, one approached and lightly grasped my hand in its jaws.

Not understanding, and a little shaken by the very incident, I quickly drew my short sword and sliced the Zergling's head off. Running, I attacked the other Zerglings that were surrounding me. Not even a minute had passed and I had dispatched the group.

Out of my, so called, "danger," I had time to think it over. Maybe the Zergling was trying to get my attention or was trying to take me somewhere. I don't know, and I didn't wish to find out.

Now in the distance, a single speck was approaching, slowly. I will approach this one in caution.

I watched as the figure got larger in the distance. I could tell it wasn't my Mistress, the shape is not right. But I could tell that it is something fairly large.

Drawing my great sword, I began to conduct swordplay as the figure drew ever closer, at a painfully slow pace.

The hum of my blade cutting through the still air was like music to my ears. My muscles tightened as I jumped, slashed, jabbed, and cut the air. My invisible adversaries could not hold off my strong, quick blows. Too bad that they are only imaginary.

After several minutes of swinging my sword around, I sheathed it. Deciding it pointless to wait here if the Zerg messanger is being this slow. I put my tiring feet to the task and they began to carry me toward the figure that I dreaded to meet.

Minutes passed, I got steadily closer. But to my amazement, the figure was much larger than I had imagined. So large that it dwarfed me, even from a distance.

We came closer and stood several yards apart, but I could tell that if this Zerg wished to strike it could kill me from that distance. It's four spined appendages twitched and swayed constantly, my gaze fixed upon them.

"Unigog?" The Zerg asked.

"I am Unigog, but who are you?" I asked back.

"I am Gilgal, the Hive Patriarch. I can tell from your gaze that you fear my spines. Fear not, my fellow minion of my Queen, I wish not and cannot harm you." The Zerg stated.

"What is it that you want from me?" I asked.

"My Queen wishes for you to return to the primary Hive Cluster, she has sent out scouts that had been looking for you for several hours now. You must be dreadfully hungered, return to the creep and receive much needed nourishment. My Queen has been wanting to speak with you, for your Legion of Blades has been prepared and await your approval. There are so many other things that my Queen has to speak to you about. I hope you accompany me back to the Hive Cluster, we can discuss much over the long trip." Gilgal stated, with a toothy grin.

"I do not think I can cherish such a discussion." I said, breaking into a run.

As I got further away from the Hive Cluster, I looked back at Gilgal. The Patriarch was shaking it's large head in disappointment. Then, not able to believe it, Gilgal unfurled massive wings and took to the air. The Zerg was almost on top of me, I tried to dodge by going into a small ravine. But before I could jump into the safe haven, I was grabbed by four feet. Unable to move, Gilgal flew back to the Hive Cluster with me in tow.

Notice: Sorry about the updates, I have been very busy lately and haven't had the time or opportunity to make my usual long parts for my chapters. I have been trying to write for some time, and I have finally got this post in. Sorry for the inconvience of time. I hope people can still enjoy this fanfic. I believe if I try and get in small updates, I can keep the story flowing, not matter how long the story gets (page-wise).

that it explains why it took so long for him to reach the figure, it seemed closer than it really was because it was so large

Tuaren, the reason that Kerrigan just doesn't have Unigog killed is because he is completely resistant to psionics. Meaning that no Protoss, nor Protoss technology, can kill him. Thus making him the greatest of the Zerg anti-Protoss weapons. Also, Unigog is effective against the Terrans because of his brute strength and various qualities that he acquired from the genetic spill.

***********************************************************************

How did I get into this, I asked myself. When will the nightmare end, or has it just begun? What glory is there in being a part of the Swarm? Isn't the simple humiliation of the Protoss and Terrans enough? Where is the glory in bringing a noble Protoss to sacrifice himself to destroy the Overmind, or sending mindless underlings to slaughter a noble Praetor, or sending thousands of underlings to destroy a mighty Terran vessel? What glory is there in being a Zerg? There is none. It is all about destroying until there is nothing to destroy anymore.

We approached the Hive Cluster, I was still being carried by Gilgal, whom was speaking on and on about something I don't care to listen to.

Once we landed, I prepared myself to run, but before me stood Kerrigan. Though I was taller, I could tell that she was not pleased to see me being brought in the way I was. With a smooth movement of a single finger, I understood that she wished I follow her. I did so, without hesitation or question.

Kerrigan lead me to an opening, revealing thousands of creatures that were unlike anything I have ever seen.

"Your Legion of Blades is complete. They are yours to command and use to destroy the Protoss." Kerrigan stated.

I quickly inspected the Zerg that stood before me. "They are abominations, most of them are malformed in some way or another." I stated, anger entering my voice. Mainly because my uniqueness had been undercut and it irritated me to say the least.

"I don't care, they are yours now. Do whatever you feel is necessary to train them and elimate the weak ones." Kerrigan stated with a laugh.

I grew angry at this task I was given, but before I could address my anger Kerrigan cloaked. Leaving me fuming with my new Legion.
