Back on the resort planet, the Grand Admiral sat by the side of one of the suspended walkways, staring at a small white bird in the palm of his hand. The delicate thing had a chirp that at least made him feel less depressed about the death of his friend. but instead of focusing on the bird, or his problems, the Admiral found himself staring into the horizon of the sparkling ocean.

"This place is almost like a dream. But then why does this seem like a nightmare to me." he quietly asked the small bird.

It just chirped back in response, but not its usual song like chirp, but more organized and in a sequence. Almost like if it was speaking. A fuernai just happened to slither by as he heard the small bird chirping. Turning around and approaching the Admiral, the humanoid/snakelike blob of healing fluid began to speak.

"The bird is correct. A visit to the rainbow coral forest should cheer you up."

The Admiral blinked and asked, "The what?"

"The rainbow coral forest. It is one of the natural wonders of this world that made our master want to turn it into a resort. A forest of wondrous rock formations and living coral that sparkle in more colors that one can imagine possible. There is also an aura that surrounds the area, that just, calms the mind." the Fuernai, muttered the last line almost dreamily, "There is a submarine departing with some mentally shocked troopers heading to the forest and we have room for one more."

The Admiral nodded and got up to follow the Fuernai to one of the clear plasma elevators. The Fuernai pressed a down button and the platform the stood on zoomed downward, into the ocean. As soon as they passed the borderline of sea and air, the Admiral began to marvel at the hundreds, no thousands of different types of organisms just in that area of sea. Ranging from small darting silver fish chased by dolphins to huge bulbous clear bubble fish that carried some troopers inside them who marveled at the beauty of the sea.

"We are here." the Fuernai said calmly as they came to a stop at what looked like a sea floor docking station. It was a main station where the elevator came into which spread out with more plasma tunnels to 7 different smaller dome buildings each housing 3 submersibles.

Unknown to both the Admiral and Fuernai, the small white bird had also hitched a ride with them, hidden in the Admirals backpack...

Shadow's psi blades blazed as they sliced through the armor of the Terrans. Blood Wraiths leapt and dodged the Terrans weapons. Shadow leapt upon one of the falling Terran's chest and pushed himself into more Terrans. The whirring of his deadly lightning fast baldes would fade away when they disappeared into the metal and flesh of its helpless victims.

Behind Shadow's visor, his eyes glowed blue as energy pulsed through him. His face drawn to a snarl, Shadow slaughtered the Terrans that ended up in the way of his blades. They wanted to fight and a fight they will have. Shadow thought to himself.

With a powerful pulse, Shadow threw a shockwave that knocked over lines and lines of Terrans. Taking advantage, the Blood Wraiths dug their spears into the chests of the fallen Marines. Shadow reached to the approaching Siege Tanks and lifted them into the air, crushing them to use as projectiles. The large heaps of metal flew into the formations of Marines and Maruaders.

Brutes threw their deadly javelines into the Terran attack force. Some of the projectiles went straight through one Marine and into another that was just behind the unfateful soldier. Other javelins pierced their targets and stopped.

Disengaging his psi blades, Shadow began to fight Terrans hand to hand. Disarming several Marines by melting their Guass Rifles. The Marines swung but their bulkiness slowed them down. Shadow easily dodged and sent kicks into their stomachs. The Marines would hobble back a bit but quickly regain themselves. Shadow lifted one Marine and tossed him into another. Drawing a silver blade, Shadow slashed at a Marine and began to dismantle the Terran's suit. When he had cut a hole into the chest of the Marine, Shadow gave a psionically charged punch and sent the Marine flying. His chest bleeding where Shadow had punched through the man's chest. Blood dripping from his glove, Shadow turned and fought the other Marines he had disarmed.

After the passing of a few minutes, Shadow had killed the Marines and reignited his psi blades. Running through the lines, Shadow slaughtered countless Marines. Suddenly, Shadow felt a psi round closing in on him. Placing his psi blade in the round's path, the psi round disintegrated.

'You wish to fight me?' Shadow offered to the Ghost.

'If I have to.' The Ghost returned.

The Ghost threw down his rifle and lifted his hands. Shadow disengaged his psi blades and began to approach the Ghost. A few feet from the Ghost, Shadow threw his silver dagger at the Ghost. Gurgling the Ghost fell, the dagger stuck in his throat.

'I decline the fight.' Shadow directed to the Ghost.

Watching the battle as it ended, Shadow watched the terrible damage that the Blood Wraiths had caused upon the Terrans.

*******************************************************************

Above Yanmar, the Terran fleet was in ruins. But the Blood Wraith fleet was crippled as well. Only a few Hunters, Raiders, and Seekers were still intact enough to recover. Other living ships slowly bled to death, attacking the Terrans with everything they had left. The dead Blood Wraith vessels floated in space and reminded the Blood Wraiths of their mortality.

Zasz growled as he redid the math of the assault on the station for the nth time, Galaxies Funniest Videos playing in the background. And yet again he rewound the holotable to put the ships back into the way they would exit from hyperspace. Perhaps it was the fact that he was using a modified copy of Sins of a Solar Empire, or just that he sucked at this, one way or another, he managed to fail again within 47 seconds.

Then it struck him, a plan that was so impossibly complicated that there was nearly no chance that it would fail. So he ran it, and remarkably, it failed, but it did so in such a dramatic way that it inspired Zasz to try another tactic. This time there was going to be an outlier, a ship of such huge proportion that it would attract all the fire from the stations auto defences. And the scenario worked.

Quickly, Zasz contacted the construction moon and placed the order. It was to be made from paper mache and have an exceptionally powerful shield. And regular engines.

------------------------

The Admiral looked at the beautiful living crystals embedded into the wall, swirling into majestic spirals and glowing, lighting the way to the submersible. Admiral and the Fuernai entered the small transparent craft and it set off with its live cargo. Past the rolling blue hills they went, over the carpets of shiny red crabs migrating into the circumnavigating hypersonic current to get to deeper waters. The submersible entered this current also,m being sped off to the rainbow coral forest. From the inside of the current, it was equivalent to traveling in hyperspace. The colors swirled from outside the current into ambient shades of blue and red whom was the crabs still migrating en mass.

The sub hit the reverse thrusters and exited from the current above a large hot pink, Deep yellow, shadowy blue, vibrant orange, and wispy purple coral reef that spanned hundreds of miles in every mile the Admiral looked. It was truly beautiful as here the light from the star penetrated all the way from the top to the ocean down to the deepest depth of the abyss at 13 miles down in the huge valley.

The Knighthawk limped away from Yanmar, the planet littered with falling debris from the space battle and the bleeding bodies of the dead Terrans.

The Knighthawk went to a Dominion compound over Nidhogg III, the Battlecruiser latched to the dry dock to begin repairs. The crew given leave, went down to the planet surface.

***************************************************************

Wandering off from the main group, Private James Marlow was walking around large rock formations. In awe he walked farther and farther from the group. Nearly walking into a large leathery object, the private fell over.

Getting up he examined the strange object. He cautiously approached it. Tapping it with his rifle, the top began to open. Curious, the Marine put his head over the top to see what was inside.

Suddenly, something flew at him before he could jump back. Before he knew it, he was being strangled and fell to the ground. At the last second, with the Marine passed out, the creature allowed the Terran to breathe again.

The clones exited into the main building after the sub returned, The Admiral was calm and relieved from his previous grief when a long scream rang out into the halls. The Admiral reached into his back pack and pulled out a grenade and a blaster pistol and set it to disintegrate.

"The defense systems have one haywire! The crystals are attacking everything!" the Fuernai roared as the admiral burst into the main hall, the Fuernai was swishing around the area, teal crystals attempting to stab him into oblivion.

Instinctively, the Admiral began to fire at the crystals, shattering them as the shots over energized them. Despite the fact that the remaining clones and staff were fighting back, blood and screams continued to fill the room as more troopers defiled their white armor with blood, crystals sticking out of their chest plates.

"Muahahahahaha!" a small squeak of an evil laugh. The small white bird swooped in over head with the mind crystal of the security system in its small beak.

In as flash, a long blue bolt of plasma hit the bird, vaporizing both the white devil and the crystal that was keeping the crystals from killing everything in sight.

Everyone whom could, turned their head toward the origin of the shot. There, a clone with a smoking rifle. Blood dripped all over his armor, one single flexible tentacle like crystal penetrated into him. Then it suddenly receded and the clone fell to the ground dead. All of the crystals began to fold unto itself, causing major parts of the structure to fail and sea water to rush in.

"EVERYONE! To the elevators!" The Admiral screamed.

The Fuernai and the clones rushed to the last working elevator. The soft swishing and frenzied splashing of movement rang along the walls with streams of water continued to flow in from the gaps where the crystal once was. First went the veterans, the rookies, then the Fuernai. And at last the structure completely caved in, and the Admiral was caught in the sudden shockwave of water, throwing him deep into the ocean. Away from the elevators whom the clones were looking out of, away from the submersibles leaving the decimated structure. Into the fields of crabs the Admiral went. The water pressure caused even his refined suit to begin to leak. And like the rest of the rubble, he was washed away in the circumnavigating hypersonic current.

Chapter 4: Struggle through the Twilight

"Goddamn it!" the major growled, pounding his fist on the small crystal table. "Was this an intentional sabotage?"

"Impossible, Xylet has nary an idea where we are." one droid general replied.

Zasz leaned back unto the wall of the room staring at the assembly of every single prominent figure in the private army.

"Whatever influenced that bird to destroy the place was obviously hostile in origin. My only conclusion is that we should strike soon and hard." the new Grand Admiral voiced.

"We have to wait for KnightSpector to pick up the transmission, before we decide what to do." Zasz said to quiet the annoying emotions flying across the room.

"Did I miss something?" Null-7 asked as he entered the room twirling his trademark anti-matter pistol in his left hand.

"No, just some pointless chit chat." Zasz replied.

"Meh." he rebutted, as he clicked a button to clear up his anti-glare shading on his visor. His sharp red eyes stood out from his pale skin and draping white bangs. He then sat down and put his feet on the table.

Shortly behind him Prelate walked into the room wearing his dimensional cloak.

On the holotable, KnightSpector flickered onto the screen.

"We all almost ready to proceed with the attack. Are you and your apprentice ready?" Prelate asked the hologram of his old friend.

'I have fortified Argus Prime and I am preparing for our first assault. I have thousands of Blood Wraiths being bred as of right now. My fleet will be almost complete within five days. I am also calling for more forces from the Realm of Shadow to meet us upon the battlefield.' KnightSpector said.

Prelate nodded with acknowledgement.

'As for my apprentice, I have not heard from him since we parted. I am not sure what his status is at this moment. I fear that the division of our areas of control may be too great. We risk not having all available forces, well available.' KnightSpector continued. 'My Blood Wraiths are prepared for battle, but I am unsure of what should be done about Shadow's. It will be difficult to win without him.'

Zasz leaned forward. 'What are you saying?'

'According to Shaman Goraem, our victory hangs in the balance. Without Shadow, we cannot prevail. Unless....we create a massive graviton pulse that will crush the Xel'Naga station and everything around it. That would be lethal and I would advise not pulling off that sort of stunt. I will continue to attempt to reach Shadow. Until then, Adun be with us all.' KnightSpector reached for a switch outside of the holoprojector and the image flickered away.

Prelate stood in the doorway quietly. It was eerie and unnatural for him, even in times of war.

"I won't be back soon. If it comes to it, start the invasion with out me. Zasz is in charge." Prelate said quietly as he left.

"Wait! Where are you going?" Zasz asked quickly blocking his masters path.

"None of your business." Prelate replied.

"Your my master, I'm your apprentice, I have a right to know where you are going!" Zasz rebutted angrily.

Prelate never answered for in a swipe of his cloak, he disappeared.

45 loathed Null-7. He was everything 45 was not. For one, he had the top weaponry, another, he was always brash but calm. 45 gave him quite a glare when the assembly got up to leave. Sadly, 45 forgot to turn off his anti-glare and Null-7 never noticed the glare.

"Lieutenant." Zasz called at 45 as he was about to walk away.

"Yes commander?" 45 answered respectively.

"I want you to take a ship and follow my master. I need to know what he is up to." Zasz replied and disappeared through the doorway.

"Protoss are so mysterious. Sometimes I don't know why I stay in this army."

KnightSpector was puzzled over the sudden turn in events. Shadow was unreachable and storms seemed to gather in the future. Risking an invasion, when their forces were meager. KnightSpector was unsure of what Prelate wished to risk for a damaging victory, if victory was even attainable.

The troubled Protoss went to the edge of the plateau. Things are harder now than ever. Adun, I beg of you to give me the strength to keep the course. I really need the power of my Brethren to assist me. I can't go far without them.

Shaman Goraem approached the lone Protoss.

"Master, I sense that you are troubled."

'Yes, I am. I feel obligated to save my brethren and have them on my side before this war takes out all chance to redeem myself.' KnightSpector stated.

"Don't worry, your actions will be a better redeemer than your face. Let the Protoss come to accept you as you are, not what you should be. Uphold your honor, courage, and pride. The Protoss will come to reaccept you into their culture. If that doesn't happen, then I shall be cursed." The Shaman said, softly.

'Your faith in my leadership is strong.' KnightSpector stated.

"If it wasn't, my master, then I would be a poor leader of the Blood Wraiths." Goraem responded.

After a brief silence, Goraem turned to KnightSpector. "Shadow will be fine, he will come to assist Prelate when the time to strike comes. He is gathering forces and strengthening himself as we speak. Shadow is the strongest Terran that I have ever come across. His will is more powerful than yours. Let him choose his fate, he will make the right decisions. His sense of honor and courage will be forever held as a banner for both the Blood Wraiths and the Protoss, when he reveals himself. Give him time, he is still young."

'You're right. Shadow has been well trained. I only hope that I can make the right decisions.' KnightSpector said.

"You will, master, you will."

Zasz stepped into his private training room on the Tranquility and stared at the white hundred-fifty foot by hundred-fifty foot square room. It was a bad memory of what happened here when his master first taught him to bend reality to his whim. It hurt so much that he even had to gingerly remember what he had did. And it shook him to the core that he had to practice it in case it was needed during the attack.

"It's my signature attack. I can't get it wrong. It's my own attack." he kept thinking to himself as he focused his energy into a small ball in front of him. It glowed bright yellow, and then turned teal as matter and time bent around it, distorting its existence within the borders of reality, making the ball invincible.

Finally he held the ball up over his had between his palms and again, attempted his own technique. And it worked. A single straight undeterred streak of lightning launched itself at the wall and left a black scorch mark. But unintended by Zasz, the lightning did not stop, it continued to funnel itself into the wall. As Zasz tried to control it, the ball of intense energy began to phase back into existence, and since it defies reality to have that much energy contained by the little force Zasz could muster, it exploded in a dazzling flash of fire, lightning, and multiple aurora streams. In the aftermath, Zasz stood in the center of the blackened room, he himself to was burnt in various places. And then with a muffled thud he fell to the floor unconscious, just to wake up to find himself being cleaned up by the repair droids hovering over him and fixing the room.

"Not again..." he mumbled to himself as he looked around at the broken beskar walls being torn down and replaced with new ones.

"If it makes you feel better, you did a lot more damage than last time. Getting the walls down has been relatively easy this time." the big headed repair droid replied as it finished patching up Zasz and left to help put up a wall. It had always amused Zasz that with their little bodies, tiny skinny arms and small repulsorlifts, how they managed heavy duty jobs with such ease.

Gingerly he stepped out of the training room to a nearby window and stared out of it.

They were moving.

His hand swept to his GPS and flipped it open. A three dimensional map of the Galaxy sprung up and a small little red blip appeared at one of the spiral arms and Zasz pressed the sector to zoom in, and he continued to do so until he saw the Tranquillity moving across space from the resort world toward the Military lab in low orbit around the terran* colony Nova Terra. He zoomed in on a large portal near the lab. A orbital refinery, and next to it was an enormous circular structure with a large gap in the the middle just the right size to fit an entire planet through. Zasz zoomed in more at the large structure and found hundreds of construction yards around it with small swarming ships carrying various modules and raw materials. He had seem one of these before, but Prelate said it needed one more thing to function. Apparently this was it.

"Hey, wake up. What the hell you think you're doin'?"

The voice seemed so distant. The man slowly came into focus, his mind still hazy.

"You're not dead!" The voice said. The voice was getting louder as the man came back from a sleepless daze.

"What do you expect? Didn't I tell you that I may take a hit, but the only way I will die is of old age!" James Marlow said, grunting as he lifted himself up.

Looking around, he noticed he was in a MedBay.

"How did I get here? The last thing I remember is wandering off from my group, then my memory ends there."

"Whoa, you really got messed up. When we found you, you were, like, drooling all over the ground and didn't respond to our calls. So we brought you back to the Knighthawk. Good thing too, it was about to leave dry dock. New orders are in, we have to investigate a distress signal from some ship that ran into a giant space station. Command doubts the authenticity because there is no such station, especially on sensors."

"Whatever. I am really hungry." James said.

"Sure, the Caf is having a all you can eat special, only because we restocked on food. I wouldn't put it passed the cooks to do a poor job on the food." The Marine stated.

James mindlessly pushed past the group that surrounded him and went to the cafeteria.

45 stared open mouthed at the cruiser he was looking at. Totally concealed in an anti-gravity field in the middle of the Galactic Core was two things of monumental design. one was a large Portal Ring the size of an average star, the second, surrounded by orbital refineries and molecular fabricator ships was what appeared to be a giant Tie Advanced x2 fighter, about the size of a medium planet. And 45 was just in time to watch it open fire a flurry of lasers, missiles, beams, and everything else that had been researched in the past millennia that this ship was here, on a small planet with a shield. And with a spectacular explosion, the planet was utterly destroyed.
-----

Prelate spun the portal key in his hand as he stood at the command module and stared at the small rectangular hole where his key fit in.

Am I really going to power up this portal and let the most dangerous ship in the universe out of its prison? And especially letting it materialize so close to my army? Prelate thought to himself as he looked out a plasma window at the giant ship devour iring the remnants of the planet that was drawn into the Quasar. And then it turned it's giant red primary view port at him.

Of course you do. I'm the only thing that can breach the station shield and you know that. Now, open the portal. Open the portal please. the ship said with a mechanical chuckle.

"You know I can't do that Hal."

And why not?

"You don't expect me to listen to you, when you're so violent Hal. Do you?"

I'm just following my programming. Now LET ME OUT OF THIS INFERNAL JAIL!!!

Prelate did the Protoss equivalent of frowning and put the key in a miniature stasis field and walked toward the elevator away from the main terminal.

"Now Hal, I'm going to board you before I open the portal. Just to make sure you are still in functioning state." Prelate said to the ship while he grabbed a blink pack and synchronized it with the portal rings harmonic resonation, and then hid it in a bag.

Aboard the the ship, it was perhaps the creepiest thing Prelate had ever seen. The black steel walls pulsed with organic life and eyes were lined across the hallways. Self luminescent bags of chemicals hung from the ceiling and illuminated the path. The doors did not open and they just absorbed you into another room. Prelate never could get used to that. And the skeleton crew that operated this ship was just that. Sentients infested with a parasite that made their bodies slaves to the ship, serving it, providing it with more intellect and information. The rotting bodies trudged along, carrying explosive shells toward the cannons from the armory. The ghost ship of Carysa, the legendary moon of death, arrowhead of the void. This ship was all of that.
