Karune recently gave us an update on the Lurker; it seems it wont be receiving a new art. He also talks about the Archons effectiveness.

Archons still have their splash damage and are still quite the beasts they were in the original StarCraft. There is no better feeling than watching a group of Archons instantly pop a stacked group of Mutalisks.

The changes to the Lurker Art ended up being very minor, as they have chosen to stick with the original model, adding a bit more detail. I will keep you posted on any future changes that may come about for this unit.

Team Liquid has posted a length article reviewing the current state of the game. This review covers game flow, mechanics, units analysis, matchup, strategies and more. A good and long read for those interested.

Wow, it's very long... I'll read it when I get some free time. I know some fans consider these guys as stubborn pro-gamers (with all the arguments they have about "innovating stuff" in SC2). And everyone's entitled to their opinion. I value their expert take in the game analysis, and look forward to reading what they have to say.

I am dissapointed that Blizzard reconsidered changing the Lurker`s art. I was really looking forward to a new and improved version of it. :(

That said, I was pleasantly suprised by the TL.net reviews of the BlizzCon version of SC2. When I read their WWI impressions, I could not help but feel like they preety much wanted Brood War in 3D and were willing to condemn SC2 as a failure before it even went gold. This time, however, their reviews were a lot more mixed and sometimes even conflicting. Not only did this present the BlizzCon build of SC2 from diffrent perspectives, it also revealed many interesting facts about the game I am sure most of us were not aware of.

Who knows? Maybe this serves as proof that the development of SC2 is coming along nicely. If even members of a "hub for elitist Starcraft players" now have varying thoughts about the sequel, it can only be a good thing. ;)

dude i noticed that!
karune must be on his period today...or he's extremely done with people asking "unnecessary" questions.

but i'm gonna go read that interview.

oh! something to comment on the lurker; i was watching the sonkie v. yellow match and i noticed the lurker movement speed and pathing was fantasitic! they are so quick. maybe its the extra leg...

This is actually good news.

Maybe the Lurker didn't need a new art model, it just simply needed more details.

And good news for the Archon.

I think if they just made the base color into a greyish brown like how the swarm gaurdian is, it would make the model look a hell of alot better, and maybe push its 4 legs closer to its head rather its 5th leg.

At least they left the mighty Archon alone.... but for how long we can only guess. I'm rather happy that they're keeping it the way it is for now. It's beast. It warms my heart to see like 5 of them clear an enemy base or ruin like 12 zerglings in about 4 seconds.
