In WarCraft III shallow water does not affect units movement speed nor their ability to attack.
If you decrease scaling value of a unit (making it walk below water) does not affect it still (bad example :P). I wonder if it's the same for StarCraft II :? I sure hope that water will affect certain units in StarCraft II. |

Well even if factors like weather impact the way units move I don't think that necessarily means that it would make things more 'luck' based. If they design the maps well enough, making good use of terrain could add a whole new layer of strategy to the game.
Here's a scenario: Two players are locked in battle when Player 1 decides to retreat and move to another position to reinforce, Player 2 starts to chase after him. What Player 2 doesn't know is that he's walking into a trap because Player 1 is leading him into a river. Player 2 finally reaches the river and starts to trudge his troops across, only to be assaulted by a group of air units that Player 1 set up around the perimeter of the river. He calls his units back but the water has slowed them down pretty significantly. As air units are unaffected by the terrain, Player 1 makes easy pickings out of Player 2's units. Like shooting fish in a barrel. |

Will units be affected by being under water? I heard before that there will be some minor terrain impacts on units, such as snow slowing down units. Will units under water be able to fire still? Will they move slower? Will they have decreased line of sight?
I know that Blizzard wants to make the game more dynamic around the terrain and realistic, but I hope they don't go overboard and add too many things based on luck.
