Things You Miss from SC

I know everyone misses at least one or two of their favorite units from the original SC that didn't make the cut into SC2. However this thread isn't meant to discuss the units themselves but rather other aspects of the original you miss. It can be things like voice overs, unit portraits, game mechanics or animations, etc.

As for myself I was really disappointed to see there are no units that die and leak blue liquid all over like the Dragoon. Hands down that is one of my favorite death animations ever. Unfortunately the Stalker just kind of explodes with a small blue explosion.

I also really miss the blue fire when Protoss buildings were damaged. While the new electric sparks seems more realistic, the blue fires were just too cool.

1. Lurker => removed with no replacement for stupid reasons... IMO one of 5 most interesting units in BW
2. Dark Archon => Nice concept, this unit IMO should stay in SC2 with possibly changed spells (if needed)
3. Spider Mines => these things were awesome. No replacement in SC2 hurt...

Actually the protoss and zerg buildings show no signs of being damaged. The electric sparks start to fly when the protoss building is being destroyed. Other than that no animation, event the zerg buildings don't bleed. My guess is that they will add it and it is missing because it is still beta.

As for the missing - I miss the medic wall, the lockdown, the old way of showing cloacked units when detected, the animals and monsters that explode like a nuke when you click them and I miss the valkyrie missiles' sound and animation... oh and killing a limit of zerglings with 12-24 lurkers and making ketchup ^^

Medievac replacing medic is example of good idea being replaced by bad idea... Anyway, I am ok with dropship healing infantry. I just cannot accept these sexy medics being removed...

Yes, the blue goo was EPIC!!!

Stalkers should have that too... like a neon greenish kind... or maybe even team color?? xD

Immortals should too... They could have different death animations as well... If it got shot, it could like crack in a few places and goo will just kinda pour out of it... If it got blown up - big splat! If it got burned you'd see burned carcass and the goo vaporizing ^^ That would be like AWESOME!!! xD

The animations/sounds im going to miss...

* I will also miss the dragoon death animation and hoped the stalker died the same.
* The hydralisk scream when it dies... sounded cool.
* I will miss overmind announcer for Zerg (Spawn More Overlords), new one sounds awful.
* Zerg Buildings bleeding, don't see that in SC2.

The units im going to miss...

* Zerg Lurker - This unit was my favorite and hope it makes a return, cmon Blizzard!
* Zerg Scourge - This unit was iconic for the swarm, but understand if they need to scrap it.

* Protoss Corsair - I think this unit was extremely useful for the Protoss, cmon mutas!
* Protoss Scout - I actually loved this unit, however costly, because of anti-matter missiles.

* Terran Golith - This unit will be missed.

The units im happy to see go...

* Terran Medic - This made terran infantry too powerful, glad to see medivac.
* Terran Science Vessel - Irradiate was too OP vs Zerg IMO.

* Protoss Dark Archon - One archon is enough.

* Zerg Queen - Enough said.

Dancing Lings and Dragoon because of pathing errors... for humor only it was actually quite annoying

Anyone noticed that the Siege Tank's portrait doesn't actually fit his voice? I believe that the original SC1 portrait would be more appropriate.

Protoss has too many lasers. In the original it wasn't the case, as units had energy balls, anti-matter missiles, scarabs and more. I honestly think that the Stalker's and Phoenix's attack animations are bland and uninspired. I would be glad if the Stalker retained that energy ball projectile (UT3 Shock Rifle).

Some of the voice-overs are an utter failure. I hate the Ghost,BC,Raven mostly.

If I had to pick anything, it's the DISTINCTIVE NOISES. In SCBW, I could tell pretty much any battle by the noises happening. In this game, unit's seem more general, zealots make more of a "whoosh" noise than a "METAL ON METAL GRATING SOUND" (best way I can describe the old one). Marines made a distinctive GUNSHOT sound, that doesn't seem as pronounced in this one. Mutalisks, I can barely even HEAR them attack in SC2, in BW they made awesome noises. This also goes for hydralisks. The new hydralisks attack is GAY. Oh hey, i'm shooting a dart "poof poof" is what it sounds like... I want the sweet green acid with awesome sound effect back...

This brings me to my next point. The sounds when you select units. Not the individual VOICES, but this goes mostly for zerg. They all sound too similar now. I want the hiss of a hydra, the super annoying overlord sound... So yeah, if I had to pick what I miss the most, it's the noises... The sound of a dragoon dying... ahhh.

Protoss:
Dragoons-Although I like the new versions of this unit, there is just something special about the original.
Corsair-Just a lot of fun against zerg.

Terran:
Goliath-They were perfect...
Vulture-Spider Mines plz

Zerg:
Lurker-A lot of fun to wreak havoc in someones base especially when they are foolish enough not to get detectors.

I agree that the protoss have bland attacks:

Stalker should have old dragoon attack animation.
Phoenix should have old scout or corsair attack animation.
Interceptors should have old interceptor attack animation.

The dragoon had the best looking attack in starcarft 1... make the stalker look the same.

That would make protoss alot better visually.

I would say Lurker the most, but i really have a big hunch they are gonna bring the Lurker back in either Heart of the Swarm or Legacy of the Void.

I also miss the huge amount of protoss airships. Protoss use to BE the air fighters of starcraft 1. Once again though that has plenty of room for new units in the next two parts of SC2.

And the Goliath, the Thor WAS awesome when you were able to build it on the battle field and such, and when it looked like it survived at lot longer than now. But atm its just a bulky never used mech. and the terrans need a mech...the just needs one =(

The animations/sounds I'm going to miss...

* The Overmind adviser. The new one doesn't sound that great
* What happened to Zerg buildings bleeding!?

The units I'm going to miss...

* Zerg Lurker - I love this unit so much. It raped infantry. Stupid blizzard removing it >.<
* Zerg Scourge - Dude we need these so much for anti aircraft, but then again corsairs are gone

* Protoss Scout - I loved seeing this unit used in noob matches. It's just there for the lulz

* Terran Goliath - Epic unit. I love the quotes too :*(
* Protoss Reaver - It was too fun sniping these out of the sky with scourge or hydras and seeing the protoss player say "gg" lul XD

The units I'm happy to see go...

* Terran Medic - Medic walls ftl
* Terran Firebat- Annoying on 2 rax drops when you only had lings and mutas couldn't do anything
* Terran Science Vessel - Irradiate was the most annoying fking thing to hit Starcraft XD

* Protoss Dark Archon - It was underused as it is so I'm glad DTS can make it now =D
* Protoss Corsair - It was a thorn in every Zerg player's side and I was happy to see it go
* Zerg Queen - Need I say something about this?
